Caring for Children Who Stutter

This clinically oriented seminar is designed to help Speech Language Pathologists improve their effectiveness in helping children who are stuttering. The course will explain and demonstrate (with video case studies) the clinical process - from the consultation - to the follow-up therapy sessions. Clinical themes for the seminar will include: determining whether or not to intervene and when to begin; what treatment approaches are most appropriate; how to combine approaches as needed; how to respond to concerned parents and teachers; how to help children build self-esteem in spite of stuttering; how to track fluency function; reasonable expectations of change; and "trouble shooting" the process along the way.
