Avery Sheffer, now 2, was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex 2 shortly after she was born. Too young to have surgery to remove the tumors in her brain and not much luck with medications to control her seizures, Avery was put on the ketogenic diet a year ago.
Today, her parents, Andy and Adrienne, with help from dietitians and therapists at Wellspan Health, York, PA, have watched their daughter blossom into a typical toddler, excited to play and learn.
