A professor of speech-language pathology at Miami University has been elected a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Barbara Weinrich will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the ASHA convention in Chicago on November 15. Being elected as a Fellow of ASHA is a lifetime award and is not term limited.
Weinrich joined Miami's faculty in 1975 and has taught courses in a variety of areas, with a focus on voice and child language disorders. Her clinical teaching in Miami's Speech and Hearing Clinic also relates to voice and language remediation. She served as director of the clinic from 1996 to 2000.
Weinrich, whose research focuses on assessment and treatment of voice disorders, will retire from Miami at the end of fall semester in December. She plans to continue to work at her private practice in Middletown, as well as continue her affiliation at the Center for Pediatric Voice Disorders, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center as a research associate.
