The American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology and Audiology (AAPPSPA) held its annual conference earlier this year in Orlando, FL.
During the Clinical Institute, Dave Nelson presented an introduction to the DIR Floortime Model.The conference featured a variety of clinical, business and legal speakers. Topics included "Maximizing Profits in a Difficult Business Environment," "Enhancing the EI Experience from Clinic to Home," "Effective Personnel Policies and Appropriate Documentation, Wage and Hour Compliance," "Voice Disorders," "Esophageal Dysphagia," and "Regulatory Advocacy: ASHA, Medicare and Private Practice."
Fran Smith was recognized at the annual business luncheon for her years as CEU administrator
for AAPPSPA. Laurie Botstein received the Honors Award for 2010.
The results of the AAPPSPA election were announced. The officers are Denise Dougherty, president; Laurie Botstein, vice president; Anita Werner, secretary; and Landria Seals, treasurer. Eileen DeVaney was elected to the board.
The 2011 conference will be held May 12-14 in Omaha, NE.
